Fluke 9110FT SPECTRUM-TX diskettes imaged

Hi all! I bought a Fluke 9110FT setup and with that setup came the SPECTRUM-TX diskettes which I now have imaged and uploaded to the "/TTL/Test_Equipment/Fluke/9100 Series" folder on John's FTP site. Inside the ZIP archive is a ReadMe with more details about the images etc. I haven't tested the images myself but I think they should probably work as the original diskettes was error free. I chatted with the seller and he confirms that it does NOT power up. So chances are the battery backed up system ROM has failed. Item 390623172259 He reduced the price on his own from the original asking $59.95 to $19.95. Pity. I was hoping to find a good one to extract the program from to save mine... If someone here buys it and CAN extract the ROM data I'd sure like a copy! Fluke FIDE 4.1.9 Run-time error'68'

I've been using the 9010A only with the keyboard, however I am now finding that I have to run some scripts for servicing some old game boards - Pole Position 2 by Namco. By and large I can type the stuff in, but I wanted to use FIDE to both edit the code and upload it to my unit either via the USB mod or the Wi-Fi mod (back in 2015/2016 we talked about these). Is anyone else using Quarterarcade's FIDE? I have a regular occurrence of the run-time error 68. It is Windows based: 68 Device unavailable A hardware device or necessary requirement for the program is not being found. Verify all hardware and software required by the program is installed. If you continue to have the same issues verify the latest updates are installed for the program as well as any hardware device the program needs. Anyone else found a solution or a cause for this? Perhaps FIDE just isn't happy running over a network...or does it needs longer timeouts? 9100FT Programmer’s Keyboard

I finally tracked down a Programmer’s Keyboard for my 9100. I don’t know how widely it’s known, but there were two different versions of the keyboard. The only photos I’ve seen are the earlier model, which meant that I almost let this one slip away. It was on eBay, new old stock, for $36 shipped! All the info is in the manuals, if you look. I had always wondered why the keyboard illustrations in the Programmer’s Manual didn’t match the photos of the keyboard I’d seen. It’s because I read scans of a later (1991) printing, which has illustrations of the later revision of the keyboard. I haven’t seen a 1988 printing, but I bet it shows the earlier keyboard layout. The various 9100 service manuals list different part numbers: 9100A Supplemental Parts List (May 1988), fig. 5-21, p. 5-53 ---- Lists p/n 5-64995-131. This seems to be the more common version of the keyboard. It has a block of (mostly) 2u keys on the far right, angled RETURN key, and arrows by the SHIFT and RETURN keys. Photo: https://i.imgur.com/undefined.png The Service Manual which this is a supplement to (9100A Service Manual p/n 809210, May 1988) only lists the Fluke stock number, 757120, in fig. 5-20 on p. 5-50. 9100FT Service Manual (p/n 910476, November 1991), fig. 5-18, p. 5-49 ---- This has new stock and parts numbers. s/n 887216, p/n E04008051. The later revision more closely resembles a 1990s 101-key PC keyboard, with separate numpad and arrow keys. It seems to work fine on a 9100A. Since this an uncommon keyboard, I naturally tore it apart and took some photos of the inside before even plugging it in. It seems to be second-sourced from KeyTronics, which might explain the lack of documentation (schematics, etc) in the Fluke service manuals. Even though it looks like a PC keyboard, it uses uncommon capacative (hybrid mechanical) switches mounted on a metal plate, and feels much sturdier than the 1990s rubber dome board I was expecting. The controller is an 8031, with the program in a 2764 EPROM. I’m going to see if I can dump it, though it’s soldered in and I’d prefer not to remove it. There are two DIP switches which are accessible via a panel on the bottom. I have no idea what (if anything) they do. I’ve built a few keyboards from kits, so I was hoping that with a good look inside, it might be possible build a reproduction with the same microcontroller and program. While the 8031/2764 is excellent news for this, the rest is a downer. There’s an Exar 22-00958-000 IC which handles the capacitive keyswitches and provides keypress data to the 8031. It looks like the switches and controller are hard to come by, which renders the program on the EPROM useless. Still, maybe someone could adapt another KeyTronics board, as they seem to be fairly similar. 9100FT U36 NVRAM archive?

Has anyone backed up their NVRAM XC1765 U36 on a 9100FT? Mine appears to have been corrupted and my 9100FT won't boot with it. Mine is labeled "U36 V1.0", 8-pin device. No PDFs online that are easily found with standard search, need to dig out my old Xilinx book. Fluke 006 async tape data on ftp site + help getting self-test to pass

According to the source, subprograms 12-18 are BINARY but all that is present in the file for all 7 subprograms is ":1A@@$$ :5350$A3" where 1A is the subprogram identifier, @@ is the subprogram number and $$ is the checksum. sig-a.h appears to contain valid binary data. #2 Using the first image (sig-a.h) I still can't get the self-test procedure detailed on pages 2-12, 2-13 and 2-14 of the 006 operation manual to pass. I've tried now on two different systems (with different clock modules). Each time all I get is "signature 0000 count 255" The manual is marked as "2nd preliminary version" ftp://ftp.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment/Fluke/9010%20Series/9010_Fixtur… Several possible reasons: a) The saved sig-a.h image is also bad. I actually have an NOS tape but of the eleven 9010s I've had, none have a working tape to read it on ;-( b) The manual is incorrect. This is possible. On page 2-14 it says "set the data delay to 4" but there is no such option in the setup. Does anyone have a newer copy? c) I'm not correctly interpreting the resistor hook up instructions on page 2-13. 9100s and Floppy drives updates

Shy send me a document he had on replacing a floppy drive on the 9100s. It does appear that I was slightly incorrect where I thought Fluke made several changes to a drive to enable it to work, rather it appears there is one modification and that is for the Sony F17 series where you add a jumper wire from the Disk Detect switch to pin 14 of the CN101 connector (for DR1) and other than setting the drive to D0 that is all. ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org//home/mirrors/flippers/TTL/Test_Equipment/Fluke/91… My modification table previously listed appears to be valid for upgrading a 9100A to revision G. If you have Revision G motherboard then I expect you have the 1.44 upgrade done look for a bunch of jumpers on the underside to see if your board is already upgraded, but then it should say Rv F or G if factory done... Finding working floppies is still problematic, SONY drives in the F17 series should work with the added jumper assuming the drive is good. I suggest you first try the SONY F17 drive setting and if not then the CANNON HD using Service Disc 6.0, after upgrading the EPROMs to RV5.0/40MB. If you want to update your MB to the G level allowing 1.44 Sony (?) floppies (& you need RV5.0 EPROM) then here are what I think are all the mods: 1) Cut traces @ W5, W6 and W7 2) Jumper W5 (connected to U27-P3) to U72-P9 (unused 7417 gate). 3) Jumper U72-P8 to W7 that connects to J14-P1 4) Jumper other side of W7 (ground) to W6 (side connected to J14-P4) 5) Jumper U27-P1 to U72-P5 (unused 7417 gate) 6) Jumper U72-P6 to J14-P16 (currently N/C) 7) Jumper W6 (connected to CHNG2 - J13-P1) to W5 (connected to J14-P2 - /SPARE) 8) for RV5.0 EPROM check that W2 is cut (40 Meg upgrade ROMs) ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org//home/mirrors/flippers/TTL/Test_Equipment/Fluke/91… Photos: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment/Fluke/9100%20Series/Photos/ Hope this helps others, saved me a bunch of time! How to enable EDITOR on 9100s?

I am obviously overlooking something obvious, but how does one enable the EDITOR on a 9100 that is running 6.1 and has the video card installed? I tried using the service 6.0, but EDITOR does not appear to be an option. What is particularly annoying is I had editor on a 9100 which did not have the video card and when I pressed EDIT it would lock up. I then did some software tweak that removed EDITOR as an option, but I can't find that option again! I feel like an idiot, but I'm hoping someone will take pity no me and say the magic words (RTFM I suspect!) to fix this idiotic problem. Thanks! Recommend add a fuse upgrade for Fluke 9100 series

I am now on the hunt for the small switching transformer on one of my 9100s as the original was cooked. Unfortunately it was not fused by Fluke and I am not sure where I am going to find this sucker. It is T1 and is called Transformer, Converter 775932 (manufacturers #89536) in parts listing. Shy (@ Navatek) hasn't seen one before but is still checking... This is a multi-winding sucker and provides the isolated voltages for the serial ports as well as the 70V for the display. Years ago I had a secondary cap (C101) short on this transformer and it let the magic smoke out. I had set it aside and forgotten, but now I am restoring a few 9100s and dug this out and found the smoked Xformer. In the meantime I have modified all my 9100s lifting the furthest leg of inductor L2 (10uH) away from the power connector J15 and then add a GMA fuse holder in series from raised leg and the PCB. I find a 300ma fuse works just fine. Which is interesting as Fluke put a 1A fuse in the 70V output to the display...obviously overkill! ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org//home/mirrors/flippers/TTL/Test_Equipment/Fluke/91… I may have to send this transformer core out to get rewound, anyone have a suggestion where? Or I may try my hand in it, I have lots of tiny magnet wire on hand - assuming I can't find the transformer.
