Fluke 006 async tape data on ftp site + help getting self-test to pass
#1 There are two copies of the tape data on the ftp site: ftp://ftp.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment/Fluke/9010%20Series/9010A%20Tapes/sig-a.h 13.5k in size; referenced here: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/2011q2/001031.html and ftp://ftp.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment/Fluke/9010%20Series/9010%20scripts/SA-ASYNC.H 8.1k in size; referenced here: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/2016q1/002344.html John; this second one that you uploaded is bad and should be removed. According to the source, subprograms 12-18 are BINARY but all that is present in the file for all 7 subprograms is ":1A@@$$ :5350$A3" where 1A is the subprogram identifier, @@ is the subprogram number and $$ is the checksum. sig-a.h appears to contain valid binary data. #2 Using the first image (sig-a.h) I still can't get the self-test procedure detailed on pages 2-12, 2-13 and 2-14 of the 006 operation manual to pass. I've tried now on two different systems (with different clock modules). Each time all I get is "signature 0000 count 255" The manual is marked as "2nd preliminary version" ftp://ftp.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment/Fluke/9010%20Series/9010_Fixture%20PDFs/9000A-006%20Async%20Probe1.pdf Several possible reasons: a) The saved sig-a.h image is also bad. I actually have an NOS tape but of the eleven 9010s I've had, none have a working tape to read it on ;-( b) The manual is incorrect. This is possible. On page 2-14 it says "set the data delay to 4" but there is no such option in the setup. Does anyone have a newer copy? c) I'm not correctly interpreting the resistor hook up instructions on page 2-13. Image of what I'm doing attached. thanks for any help!! _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/
I've renamed the suspect file "Probably_Bad_SA-ASYNC.H", will check out when I have time or Tony lets us know what actually does work. Thanks Tony! John :-#)# On 2018/04/06 10:02 AM, Tony Jones wrote:

I believe there is an issue with the Async tape because program 10 is coming up as "Not Found" which happens to be the Delay Setup program needed to do the clock module self test. See PDF page 66 (or workbook page 88) in this workbook <ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment/Fluke/9XXX%20Training%20and%20Troublshooting/9010A%20Training/9010A%20Student%20Workbook%20Course%20Notes-805663.pdf>. All 20 programs work fine for me except program 10. Does anyone happen to have another copy of the Async tape they can share? Actually - looking at this a little further - that option never existed on this tape. There's no option to setup delay compensation at all and no Program 10 that is ever called to execute. So perhaps an older version. http://games.rossiters.com/manuals/Fluke/Tapes/fluke-async.txt. Anyway - I wonder if there are other versions floating around somewhere? I have a sealed original tape. However in ten 9010s I've owned I've never had a working tape drive. I'm not sure who uploaded that fluke-async.txt script but (I'm on vacation right now and it's too hard to navigate the ftp site via tablet) my recollection is there are multiple other copies of the main control script on the ftp site (.s files, I know there is also a full tape uploaded by John the one with corrupt binaries) and they are the same. My opinion has always been the the preliminary operators manual documentation is wrong though I'll admit the fact that the delay option (program 10) is mentioned in the training PDF is odd. I'm pretty sure the async tape info came from me. Maybe John also has a copy? Mine displays Rev 1.0. I'm just wondering if there is a later version. When you get back from Vacation - let's see what you're tape says on it. Maybe it's different. I think it's pretty unlikely that Matt's tape has been overwritten since the main script doesn't reference program 10 and there is no code that tries to DPY a prompt to enter the delay data. Matt's tape is supposedly part# 764977 COPYRIGHT <C> 1985 FLUKE REV 1.0". When I get back home today I'll check what version my tape is. I cut open the plastic bag and broke the seal on the tape box. It has never been read. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/14HKPgfOWiTisYI-jbmf7Mdj9UnJZcF07?usp =sharing I'm happy to loan it out to be read though as I said before, I'm still of the opinion that the instructions are what's wrong and the delay option was eliminated at some point. A non-preliminary copy of the operators manual would resolve this but I'm not sure if anyone has such a thing? On Tue, Jun 19, 2018 at 12:33 PM, Tony Jones <tony@tonyjones.com> wrote:

I believe there is an issue with the Async tape because program 10 is coming up as "Not Found" which happens to be the Delay Setup program needed to do the clock module self test. See PDF page 66 (or workbook page 88) in this workbook

All 20 programs work fine for me except program 10. Does anyone happen to have another copy of the Async tape they can share? Hopefully I'm not the only one that has one. :|

I was able to upload two different Async Tapes up to my site and I think they got transferred over to ttl.arcadetech.org. You can see two versions here -> http://games.rossiters.com/manuals/Fluke/Fluke%209010a/Scripts/Johns-Jukes/ 9000A-0061_CSG_Test_Tape - Async tape with more options Async.Sig.Opt_764977 I think Tony Jones is working on scanning in the Final Copy of the manual that describes the proper self-test technique for the clock module. Anyway - my Async tape has V1.0 on it . Not sure if 764977 is some sort of serial number or what. What does you tape say on it? DPY-COPYRIGHT <C> 1985 FLUKE REV 1.0 I'm assuming the DPY is contained in the code, not what's written on the tape. My tape has no version on the label. It does have the same 764977 part number.
I took some pictures. I cut open the plastic bag and broke the seal on the tape box. It has never been read.

I think Tony Jones is working on scanning in the Final Copy of the manual
Yup. Scanned in already. Have a handful more things to scan and ill email to John. About 20 manuals total. Also have the 9110 Spectrum TX manual set but scanning these will have to be another time (huge).
