I have just purchase a model 2501 BK Digital Storage Adapter (made in the UK) and need the manual for it. Can anyone help? Thanks! Testing Asteroids sounds with the 9010A

Here's a cute test routine, to check ANY of the sounds use the RAMP function. For example Explosion is located at 3600 so use this little program to test that: PROGRAM 0 DPY-RAMP 3600 LABEL 1 RAMP3600 GOTO 1 Now EXEC 0 That will continuously hit the Explosion sound with all the possibilities and you will get a sort of whoosh sound if working, plus you can troubleshoot the 74161...press STOP to stop the 9010. You can also just use RAMP on it's own to check each sound and then when you find a bad one use the little program above to keep it active while you troubleshoot. Then you can turn the board off and replace the part, leaving the 9010 on and waiting...then EXEC 0 again to retest. Works... John :-#)#

Substituting IBM for 9010 base...

Here's a winter project, can anyone think of a reason why you CAN'T wire up an adapter that would allow you to connect the pods to an IBM compatible computer and run them directly using a Z80 emulator? Seems to me that one's speed might go up a bit, plus no need to fix the tape drive...the old AT bus to the rescue? Or the newer bus...? Anyone game to look into this further? I can see a few items that need a bit of massaging, there is the PROBE circuitry after all, and the signature part of the probe, but the rest of the base is a fairly straight forward Z80A computer...and the 80XXX's are descendants... Fluke Z80-QT pod

Z80-QT Does anyone have this pod or the instruction manual for it? I am looking to convert regular Z80/Z80A-A pods to this, as it is the Quick Test version of the regular pod. The Quick Test has a couple of nice features: 1:) Ram test runs 20 times faster than a standard Z80 pod! 2:) Rom test generates CHECKSUMS! (these might be "standard" checksums or something else - like only 2 digits...is what I have inferred from the docs on the 68000 pod manual - the 68000 and 8088 pods use QT as well. 3:) Rom test is much faster! and other fun things... So, it is worth doing a bit of research here. I have the Z80A/A code on the archive site, but need to see the insides of a Z80-QT to see what if any differences there are. Perhaps, with luck, it is just a different program... John :-#)#

Had to fix Frogger Soundboards last night..... 834-0069 Version Sounboard 0-$16FF = $0D4C ROM 4000-4FFF = RAM (2114s) KT-4108-1 (AMIDAR Version Soundboard) 0-$16FF = $EF60 ROM (Different?) 8000-83FF = RAM (2114) To check sound read AY-3-8919 pins 3,4, 38 at 1ms/ 100mV/ You will see Digital waves. Read LM741 pin 6 at 1ms/ .5V/ for output to final AMP. Kev mowerman(a)erols.com
