Cracking the 9010A ROM signature generator

I give up, I am way too frustrated by this stupid signature crap so I am going to dive into my 9010 and see if I can figure out how it is doing it. I first have to figure out if it is in the pod or the base unit, when the signature is being generated I see lots of activity on the pod data buss, so I am assuming the process is handled inside the stupid base. I am going to also see if I can figure out mathematically the difference between the fluke signature and the regular checksum by reading a small bit of data and then doing a checksum on the same bit of data, then extrapolating it from there. I suspect that the unit is taking each data line and adding it up, then the next data line...and summing them all together or in series. Gah. digging into it tonight, perhaps I can report out later this evening what I fine. Any suggestions? I am NOT an assembly language person...I can read it a bit, I understand the process, but I have not programmed with the stuff more than a few lines. So far all I've found on the tapes are the Tape MERGE binary, the Unsigned Add binary, and the Frequency Counter binary. All work - the frequency counter is very fast at recognizing the freq, goes from 10Hz to 6mHz. Neat! I still have no idea how to transfer any binaries out the RS-232 port, although reading the Utility Programs User Manual (9000A-910) it does say "A binary program is compiled on a host computer and then downloaded to the 9010A/9005A, using the AUX I/F function. A binary program can be read/written from and to the cassette tape just like other programs. It can be uploaded/downloaded to or from a host computer and is executed in the same manner as other programs (including use as a subroutine of another program)." I suspect it is an obvious function that I just have't caught - the upload/download via the RS-232, but not yet... Binaries, RS-232, and 9010 tapes

Has anyone succeeded in transferring program tapes that have binary data to head out the RS-232 port? Anyone have any idea HOW this should be possible? When I get my big pile (thirty or so) service tapes I thought it would be nice to back them up to a PC. And share the suckers as well. No, no no. (TAF) I mean the virtual parts library that is stored on the hard disc of the 9100. To create a UFI/GFI test program on the 9100 you must build a Reference file (location of each different component) Parts file / library (logical description of each unique part) Node list (list of each signal & each node thereof) The promise is that after you've done this the 9100 is smart enough to help you find the problem..... maybe we will see.... Fluke 9100: Anyone have a fat parts library?

Before I undertake the effort of adding devices into my parts library I wanted to see if anyone out there had a killer bloated, all encompassing parts library that they would be willing to post/share. I don't know how my library compares with others but I know I keep finding things I need to add such as 7442 74191 74193 PROMs etc... Any help appreciated! Thanks, Kev
