Data io 29a with Unipak

Hi folks ! About 6-7 years since my last post here... My life changed a lot, and now I'm back to Video Game world. Many years ago I bought one Data IO 29a with Unipak from ebay and left boxed since them. Last weekend I've decided to put it working and I'm facing the following error: 70 Faulty BIT supply. Any clue on that error ? It is possible the CPU is bad or slower than the system can handle. Do you have the flat ribbon cable from the pod to the CPU socket or the twisted pair cable? The twisted pair cable handles noise better and will work in situations when the simple flat cable won't, plus it can be longer as a result. So, in continuing this discussion on techtoolslist - I found that I was only about to program a couple more 2716a's and the rest failed. Then I realized that sometimes I had to program them two or three times until they finally verified correctly. Has anyone else run into this issue? Z80 pod repair...

On the Z80 pod I guess U10 is some special IC ? It's listed as "Protector" and it's number is 585992, which "happens to be" the same as the IC number so I guess this is something Fluke custom ? I'm asking because it becomes very hot on the defective Z80 pod...very hot, I guess abnormally hot. Troubleshooting a defective pod

OK, I recently traded a working 8088 pod (still have two others) for a working Z80 pod. I also (temporarily) have a 9010A added to my Fluke stuff. Now I figured (like the Z80 pod manual suggests) to troubleshoot my defective Z80 pod with the 2nd working one. The working one self-tests fine on both my 9100A and the 9010A. The defective shows problems on both the 9100A (not recognized please reset) and 9010A. Now....I am confused about the powering up of this set-up. The normal set-up seems to say to do the following when using a "normal" UUT (no pod): 1) power off troubleshooter and UUT 2) connect pod to troubleshooter 3) power on troubleshooter, do self test 4) plug in ribbon cable to UUT So...basically you have to connect the ribbon cable to the UUT while the troubleshooter and POD are powered up ? Feels kind of strange to plug it into the UUT's processor socket while it carries power ? Anyway, next I start reading page 5-12 in the Z80 pod manual and here I get confused: Under "Prepare to troubleshoot the inoperative pod as follows" it says: 3) Connect the pod under test to +5V etc. etc......so here they seem to say to DO power up the "UUT (= the defective pod)" BEFORE turning on the power of the troubleshooter.
