Hey, that would be my cue :) All of the M72, M82, M84 games from Irem use a NEC V20 which is a 8086 with some extra instructions. It's also pin compatible so the 8086 pod is usable with it. Does anyone know if the scripts for the 9010 work on a 9100a?? It may also be of interest to know that someone (presumably Al Kossow) has scanned and pdf'ed a lot of the fluke manuals and uploaded them to www.spies.com/arcade. There's a fluke directory which has some 9010 scripts and the .exe to compile them, and in the TE directory there are manuals for the 9010,9100 and most of the POD's. (I presume Al wrote the scripts) Unfortunately, the user manual for the 9100 isn't there. Sigh... TECH: Omega Race, Kruz-Kash, and the Fluke 9010A

I just thought I'd bore you folks with some experiences I had fixing up an Omega Race PCB... Pulled from stock, one very nice looking OR boardset-no corrosion at all battery was removed years ago, looked like an easy sale so pulled out the old KK test fixture and wired up my Hoie XY monitor. Dead. Disabled Watchdog, and pulled out Fluke and plugged into Z80 socket, hmmm, can't read any memory at all, yet Data Bus test is OK. Pulled 5101 and plugged into the 5101 test fixture (a Stern pinball MPU with zip sockets)-dead, ties data bus up. New 5101, still no reliable memory read, pulled out logic comparator, and found bad 7432 (-memw), now could read RAM. Lots of ram failures (turned out to be 5 bad 2114s), now couldn't read 2732s reliably, dig more with comparator, bad 74ls08, now can read some Eproms. Pulled 0h ROM, now could read all eproms. Hmm, check 0h Rom on programmer...Ok? Burn a new one, now all Rom checks out (anyone like Fluke sigs for Erpoms?). Repair Watchdog. Hook back up to XY, good picture, but Y pot does nothing, turns out the 10K resistor is open. Now it works....total time about five hours....sigh...never should start these old buggers some days. TTL<->MOS translator circuit?

Anyone have any practice on this? I am trying to interface the Fluke to the old Gottlieb System 1 CPU, which uses +5 and -12 MOS logic...goal is simple RAM, ROM testing on board without having to unsolder those !@#$!@# spider IC's. NS has a device for TTL->MOS Translation that should handle the Address and Control lines, but the DATA path is a bit trickier. The pod has a cpu internally to match the board under test. The differences between the 6800 and 6802/6808 are clock and bus request signals are different, plus there is an enable on the 6802/8 that is missing on the 6800. You might be able to use the 6800 pod to do simple tests on the 6802 stuff, but I haven't tried it out, certainly it will not harm the pod as the +5 and grnd are all the same. At worst it will simply claim that certain control lines are wrong. Perhaps a interface plug could be whipped up that goes between the 6800 and the 6802 socket to fake the control lines that the 6800 pod needs to see? What I meant was just running the bus tests. Does a CPU need to be in the pod for that? I thought that the base and the pod could assert and sense the lines. Well, if you have a 6800 pod, it might be possible to make it able to test the 6802/6808's as well. Looking at the processor, there are not a LOT of differences, and I suspect if someone had the manual for the 6802 pod, then compared it with the 6800 pod manual (on spies.com/arcade) it may be quite do-able, all one would need is the code from the 68002 pod, and some wiring skills, and a switch to change back and forth with a zif socket for the on-pod processor... Actually, I think I just have a bus problem, and after talking with Corey, we figure that a 6802/8 pod should do the job. That's for a WPC MPU, I have a similar problem on a Baby Pac (6800) and figure it should be able to test that bus, too. Opinions?
