Scope: Phillips 20Mhz Tek 2712 Spectrum Analyzer (this guy can demodulate and display video) Fluke 9010A, w/ pods for 6800,6809,68000 (no probe, dammit). Fluke 1720A Instrument controller (doesn't work) HP 545 logic probes, 546 logic pulser, 548 logic clip. (A 547 currrent tracer would come in handy right about now). Pocket Eprom programmer. Sunrise ZAP-80 EPROM programmer (Used for *very* old tri-volt EPROMS). I don't fix games, I just collect test equipment so my bench looks impressive :-) Fluke 9010A w/ z80, 8080, 8088, 6502 and 6809/E pods Fluke 90 z80 version 1 digital 50mhz scope, one analog 20 mhz, one analog 30mhz Sony/Tek data analyzer (logic & state analysis & timing, signature analyzer) HP 1630g logic analyzer Old 486 DX-66 pc w/ -MOD UMUP-A burner/chip tester -PC based logic analyzer software -Star Tek journal CD in the CD ROM Drive :-) logic probe & logic pulser HP Logic Comparator kit Tenma semiconductor tester (works in-circuit, very handy) Wico xy pattern generator Bugtrap 8000 DRAM tester (tests down to 4116s) Atari automatic Ram/Rom tester (Old B&W stuff) Fluke meter & HV Probe HP 5004, 5006, bugtrap, Kurz-Kash signature analyzers KK eprom signature tester Nice HP benchtop power supply Tenma soldering iron, "super one-shot" desoldering gun. Variacs, power supplies, raster monitor, etc. for powering up the games A couple test EPROMs I found not long ago, one is for Carnival, the other is still unknown.... Let's see. My little work area... Data I/O 29B with unipak 2b - Love it! Thaks Al. (also 486 laptop for burning, and dumping and for looking at a copy of Kev's most excellent checksums!) Tek 2213A scope. Nice little scope, nice price. 4 or 5 meters. All tandy. What can I say, they work, one I've had since I was 12! I really like the frequence measurment on two of them. Helps track down problem on 161 counters, which appear to be my nemisis. RS Scope probe - neat little toy. Like a logic probe with an lcd window to see the trace! 2 logic probes. Weller soldering iron. Now for the wish list: Somewhere along the line I would like to pick up a decent desoldering station, as well as some sort of micro processor ICE thingy. Those Fluke Model 90's look cool, but my main wish would be for something in the 6809 area. I only really work on pac's and williams stuff, and I find pacs fairly easy. Williams can be a bear sometimes, and another tool to use would be handy. Fluke 9010 with 8088 pod. Still haven't had a chance to use it. Logic probe. 20 MHz scope. SoftLA kit. Still haven't hooked that up, either. PB-10 burner in a luggable PC. (Former Compaq 286, gutted and stuffed with a 486, 9"VGA monitor works fine and it runs Win95 quickly enough for burning, downloading and ROMIDENT) Simple bench with power supply and Amiga monitor. Yep, pretty basic compared to some of you. Re: my request to borrow a 8080 pod I've fixed 3 of the 4 boards already so I guess I won't need it. Fluke 9010A upgrade needed - Z80 gurus around?

Help! I, and many other folks cursing the 9010A, would REALLY like the code modified to give CHECKSUMS instead of the weird FLUKE "signature". As the base unit uses a Z80 I was hoping some genius out there would be interested in rectifying this serious oversight of Flukes'...any takers? Reward! John :-#)#

I'm willing to bet that the Fluke needs to have hardware handshaking that your PIII is not providing, and you are overflowing the Fluke's buffer. I've had that problem with my Data I/O EPROM programmer. I wasn't able to get Win 95 (which I was running at the time) to do the handshaking I needed. This is all conjecture, since I never put a sniffer inline with my COM ports to really see what was going on. My solution was to get a $20 80386 and run DOS.
