9010A hardware problem

Hmm, bit of a problem here, and I'm not sure what to do about it! The LOW pulse key appears to have bust. It's been a bit iffy since I bought the Fluke, and now it's completely stuck "on" or "in", whichever you prefer... So, - Anyone have a known source for individual replacement keys? - If not, anyone have a replacement keyboard to part out? - In the meantime can I happily use the rest of the system with the low pulse stuck on? - If not, can I safely just wire a switch to the two pins on the back of the key? (not desperately a great solution, but a solution I guess!) - Anyway to actually get this key to release and thus fix it? (I can't see one) Note that this is one of the toggle keys, ie, it's meant to stay in or out, but it's stuck completely at the moment :O( Thanks for any help, Martin. ------------------------ Guddler's Arcade http://www.guddler.co.uk

Thank You James and Kev! I've decide to enter on "Fluke's club" after read a reasonable information on John's website and for a very good information provided by this community. I live in Brazil, and down here, as far as I know, I'm the unique Fluke user! So this will turn my study one challenge... For example, youíll always want to test RAM and ROMs as they are the easiest to test and directly or indirectly cause a lot of faults. (Indirectly being that the RAM may be good, but a control line selecting the RAM is notÖ in which case you can isolate down the general area.) (BTW, I have not posted FIDE on the site for download. No need to contact me anymore.) But you could start by just using the code generator that I was working on. For example, you could start with a Scramble script here: http://tech.quarterarcade.com/Tech/CodeGenerator/Default.aspx?g=2470&set=sc… (be sure to get all of that URL). That probably wonít run unmodified, but it would be a start. Now, what this does not buy you is specific chip testing like custom chips, 4116 hi/low nibble isolation, and so forth. But if you are just starting out, youíll work up to that with time. BTW, I am considering a code repository for game-specific 9010A if people will contribute. Worthwhile? Let me know. Also, what I found to be a huge resource was the Fluke publications that John has hosted. I think ed as ìTroubleshooter Guides.î They give very good techniques for debugging. Good luck learning it. I found that it took a good month to get real comfortable. Pick an easy starter board like Scramble as that makes learning easier as well.
