Ok the holidays are over, and I'm back to trying to get my Fluke hooked up to the computer so I can do scripts. Problem I'm having is that when I enter the following Aux/if , Read , Yes the fluke resets after 1-2 secs. It will also do this with the serial port unplugged. I'm wondering if the is a normal action, like the Fluke is looking for a signal from the com port to wait, or if there is a problem with my fluke.. Thanks, Kevin _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com http://seven.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ftp.flippers.com/TTL/TestEquipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/

Try leaving a pod hooked up in Self-Test and leave it running for a while - the machine should not reset... If it does then something may well be wrong with the 9010 and I would check the power supply first - looking for failing caps is the first item on the check list. It's not a pod problem, I can use the fluke normally w/o problem. I'm trying to hook up the rs232 to a computer to upload scripts. It only resets after hitting enter/yes after doing an Aux/if, read. while trying to send a script to the fluke. I've been trying to read up on the program to test the rs-232, but I've not programed the fluke manually before, so It get's a little confusing manually entering the program. I have checked the power supply for problems etc when I first got it about 6 months ago. On Sun, Jan 3, 2010 at 2:28 PM, John Robertson <jrr@flippers.com> wrote:

Hi Kevin, make sure the RS232 card is firmly seated. I had issues which I resolved by reseating it a bit more firmly and screwing it down tight. What operating system are you using? I had a great RS232 link for some years with windows XP. With Vista I got problems similar to yours. I discovered that FIDE does not work in Vista and the program was not compiling. Please check that you have no error messages at the end of the compile stage. I solved it by running FIDE in virtual machine XP. I removed the rs-232 card, and reseated it. No change. I'm using windows xp, however this reset, or time out as it acts like happens even when unplugged. I've had one report that the fluke waits in receiving mode when unplugged which mine is not doing. So it's looking like maybe something wrong with the rs-232 card. when I plug an rs-232 checker onto the Fluke it shows LD High, and RTS, DTR low. It's doing a power on reset, after pressing "Aux i/f", then "Read", then "Enter". It will state Receiving, then reset after about 2 secs. It then comes back on stating Fluke 9000 restarted, self test ok. Kevin On Tue, Jan 5, 2010 at 8:28 AM, Tim Matthews <trmatthe@gmail.com> wrote:

Yeah the script is the next thing I'm going to try as soon as I figure out how to manually program this thing. Which is what I got the Rs-232 optioned one for in the first place, to avoid having to type on that keyboard more than I have to. Ok I've found a U2 to be bad the MC14411 the D/A convertor, on the RS-232 board. So now the fluke doesn't reset, The FIDE program is giving me an error of invalid port. Not sure how that could be since there is only 1 serial port, and I've got the program setup to use it. So I'm going to have to go through my setup again and double check everything, but progress is being made slowly. Kevin On Tue, Jan 5, 2010 at 11:33 AM, Kevin Moore <talon.k@gmail.com> wrote:

If it's the same error as the serial Data I/O Promlink, you can ignore the error and continue - I think the program looks for two serial ports and reports the error since there is only one. Success!! I reset all the comm port info in the Bios, and reset up everything.. Was able to load a test script, and then compile one from qtr arcade.. One thing I noticed though from the script compiler from atr arcade. It doesn't set trap active force line = no. No big deal just add that line to the script and it works.. Not that it would make a difference, but when I do a rom test, I like to use the more function to see what the sig actually is. That's helped a couple of times to figure out that I put a rom in the wrong socket. I can't wait to get to work on some scripts now!! Thanks for all the input.. If it's the same error as the serial Data I/O Promlink, you can ignore the error and continue - I think the program looks for two serial ports and reports the error since there is only one.

Ok I've found a U2 to be bad the MC14411 the D/A convertor, on the RS-232 board. So now the fluke doesn't reset,
The FIDE program is giving me an error of invalid port. Not sure how that could be since there is only 1 serial port, and I've got the program setup to use it.
So I'm going to have to go through my setup again and double check everything, but progress is being made slowly.

Yeah the script is the next thing I'm going to try as soon as I figure out how to manually program this thing. Which is what I got the Rs-232 optioned one for in the first place, to avoid having to type on that keyboard more than I have to.

It's doing a power on reset, after pressing "Aux i/f", then "Read", then "Enter". It will state Receiving, then reset after about 2 secs. It then comes back on stating Fluke 9000 restarted, self test ok.

If you have a second 9010 and a Z80 pod then you can use it to test the RS-232 card in your current machine - I seem to recall a script for doing that using a loop-back jumper...buried in the 9010 service manuals.

Hi Kevin,
Can you describe exactly what is being shown on the Fluke display when it fails? I'm not sure if you are describing the Fluke doing a Power-On Reset,
or
whether it's just dropping out of RX mode.
