Hey. Does anyone have a copy of the v6.1 dd image pointed to here: http://www.andys-arcade.net/personal/tech/fluke9100/index.htm "DOWNLOAD THIS" link (task 14) doesn't exist on the server. I ran some low-level scsi diags on the Quantum drive that came with my 9100FT and it's not sensing correctly. So I bought one of the SCSI2SD (codesrc) adapters and a box of DD floppies but one of the two 1.44mb drives I had gathering dust appears to be totally dead and the other I'm having no luck writing to (either from dos utils or teledisk). I tried connecting the Fluke floppy drive to the PC (BIOS configured as 720k) but that didn't work either. The above dd image, even though it's for a CF card should probably work on a SD. Failing this, I'll have to sort the floppies out. And on this topic: I noted the above page says "First off, system v6.0 is the newest tested working distribution that works, 6.1 doesn't work because the images were made from bad disks, don't bother with it". How does this correlate with the "System_DiscsRV6.1" and "System_DiscsRV6.1_VerifiedOK" folders on flippers.com, especially the second? I searched for 6.1 in the mail-archives and couldn't find any answers. Finally, do I require a (scsi driver) ROM upgrade for the 9100FT? The FT mainboard is different from the A, no u46/u47. I assume the equivalent FT is @U26, mine is labelled v1.3 but I can't see anything but the updated 5.0 A versions in the archives. Thanks! _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/

I fixed the link, i had to remove it after someone said there was some custom software on it, i finally got to checking it and no there isn't, its a plain image with everything you need to get going.

If you are plugging this into a PC, you wont see anything useful, everything will report empty/missing/bad.

Good luck on trying that out, i'm running CF here, i have not experimented with SD. If you make it work, post your results.

V6.1 disks are serialised to each 9100 customer back in the day i believe, therefor the disk images on flippers wontwork unless you have the 9100 they were sold for. Someone on here worked out a hack on the disk images (including the needed and still absent latest service disk) but has never shared the info.
How does this correlate with the "System_DiscsRV6.1" and "System_DiscsRV6.1_VerifiedOK" folders on flippers.com, especially the second? I searched for 6.1 in the mail-archives and couldn't find any answers.
Neither worked for me, ymmv. The v6.1 compactflash image that i created came from a direct hard-disk lift from another working setup, therefore side-stepping the serialised floppy disk problem.

I'm running V1.3 and have not changed them, because nobody has come up with a later dumped chip. For reasons that should be obvious, don't put a 9100A bios chip in the 9100FT :)
Thanks!

"low-level scsi diags" I was referring to the Adaptec low-level SCSI diags (2940UW). Has nothing to do wih OS, partition tables, etc.

Doesn't seem to like it. Definite progress over before (Disk Access LED was on permenantly) but now falls back to floppy. Verified sdcard write. Also can boot grub2 off the card (same 2940UW) so the scsi2sd hw is good, but for whatever reason FT doesn't like that image. I know it's claimed to work with the 9100. Anyways, "working" floppy I have doesn't seem to like the DD disks, I'll try and find a HD blank to verify and possibly a new floppy drive so I can create the service disk.

OK, that extra detail is useful. So 100mb is the maximum usable disk size? Seems an odd limit base2/8/16 wise.

The provided image works on the 9100A and 9100FT running a compactflash adapter of various types (Aztecmonster, Spyrus) plenty of people have found it to work. As it was built for a compactflash setup, i'm not entirely surprised it doesn't work for an SD card. Its likely your adapter configuration is the main issue. Does your 9100 boot up at all using any system disk of any version?

Without the 9100FT service disk, i do not know the answer to that. My 9100FT only sees up to 64mb of space in the software. Not sure where you're getting the 100mb limit from?

Sorry, your previous post was talking about 5.0 roms for an entirely different machine (the 9100A). I'm sure it works perfectly for CF. Nothing to the contrary was implied. Previously you said it came from an original Fluke HD and now "it was built for a compact flash setup". Are you able to elaborate on the exact process of conversion?

I am running the image on an SD card using the scsi SD adapter made by that cleaver Australian guy linked to and spoken about on this very list. Make sure you have updated the BIOS chip if you are using a 9100a as the early released did not support the software the later image was made from. I sent John a dump of the latest firmware V1.3 for the 9100ft and it is on the FTP. Andy has put together a brilliant resource on his website including the process to upgrade the ROMS. No luck getting the image working. Is there any info on what I should be seeing during the format process? I couldn't see anything in the documentation scans. I was able to make a v1.4 service disk but all I'm getting during the disc format is a blank screen and a seemingly endlessly flashing "Disc Access" light. Access LED on the SCSI2SD never illuminates. One time, after about 30 minutes all of a sudden the Busy/Stopped and More softkeys/More information LEDs started cycling. I pressed a key and got a beep and it went back to blinking "Disk Access". Still blank screen. I have two 910xFT units, both behave the same way. Swapping SCSI cards between units, no change. SCSI2SD and Fluke both are set to 512kb sectors. SCSI2SD is definitely good, as is SCSI cable when hooked to a PC. _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/

The 9100 is not a script-based system. Disregard anything you learned about scripting on the 9010, it's not transferable. Would you try to load Mac programs on a PC? Same sort of analogy here, 9010 stuff is a totally different system, they don't share anything. When you get a video card and keyboard, you will open up to the wonderful world of the TL/1 programming language which is far more powerful, and useful than any scripts :) Until then, do like I did for the first 4-5 years of being a 9100 owner, get trick with every function through the operators keypad. Yes you can use your 6502 pod with it, the image contains all pod libraries and software needed for any pod to be used on the system. It's an old but familiar piece of advice, but - read the manuals.

There's no sub for the video card.. and they are tough to find. Took me about 5 years to get one. I would recommend using the system with the front panel first, really get to know its functions and capabilities with that first, don't rush in to feeling you need to get the programming interface before you understand everything else on it. The programming learning curve is quite steep as it is. Even when i had the programming interface all setup, i still used the front panel mostly until i had developed some time-saving programs years afterwards. To this day, i still breakout into using the front panel every now and then, its super quick and easy when working on unfamiliar pcbs, instead of trying to program something up, plus is neat and compact, with a display and keyboard right there instead of having to get out the keyboard and plug it in, and switch to using the video monitor output. YMMV, but my recommendation is to use it from the front panel and don't chase after the programming stuff right away if you are a hobby collector. You are missing *nothing* from the functionality of the machine if you don't have the keyboard and videocard yet. Obtaining those parts does open up a vast world of possibilities for sure, but those possibilities come at a high cost of your time needed to learn the language and write programs that work, tailored to the UUT. The time/effort cost versus reward on that part very often outweighs itself. Andrew Welburn http://www.andys-arcade.com On 28/12/2015 06:57, tonyhtbsusa wrote:

The 9100 is not a script-based system. Disregard anything you learned about scripting on the 9010, it's not transferable. Would you try to load Mac programs on a PC? Same sort of analogy here, 9010 stuff is a totally different system, they don't share anything.
When you get a video card and keyboard, you will open up to the wonderful world of the TL/1 programming language which is far more powerful, and useful than any scripts :)
Until then, do like I did for the first 4-5 years of being a 9100 owner, get trick with every function through the operators keypad.
Yes you can use your 6502 pod with it, the image contains all pod libraries and software needed for any pod to be used on the system.
It's an old but familiar piece of advice, but - read the manuals. Seriously do, you have to, to get your head round how it works, and how you can use it.
Enjoy!
