fluke 9010a help required please
I have been writing some script files for my fluke 9010a in order to trouble shoot some 'Universal boardsets that I have (eg:- cosmic monsters etc.) The problem is I only have One Tape. so i decided to download the scripts to my pentium III portable. No Problem downloaded perfectly :-)) trouble is when i try to upload them back to the fluke always at line 7 fluke sends an error message (Scriptfile about 110 lines long) and aborts sadly the message it gives is the abiguous message AUX-Receiving-ERROR discribed as 'Miscellanious Transmission Problems'???? Can anyone sugest anything I might try. I am sending to the pc with BAUD 9600 , PARITY=NONE , BITS=1 and Xon Xoff protocol as I say no problem sending to the pc. When Scriptfile and Signature Analysis is complete will post it for the use of the list members. Pete, My suggestion is to delete the offending line and see if the machine accepts the file. If it does then there must be a syntax error in that line. Keep us posted. Joe At 02:32 AM 2/26/00 +0000, you wrote:

At 04:07 AM 2/26/00 -0500, you wrote: Thank you all for your sugestions:-) I have now solved the problem (that never was) :-( to explain I wanted to write the script files and save them on my PIII so first i wrote a file on the Fluke. and downloaded it to the PIII but in reading the manual I used the option AUX/IF then PROG this lists the programs stored in flukes memory to the RS232 port and any device conected to it (eg a printer) or to a file. As it says---- it LISTS it ---as an ascii stream. The problem with this is when you go to upload the file back into the fluke it is in the wrong format!!!!! Silly me I should have read further (somehow I never did get on with manuals :-() ) the answer is to use the AUX/if then SAVE commands it then saves it to the PIII in a format that can be uploaded. the downside is you cannot use the PIII to write the script file in the first place. still you can't win them all and I'm glad to have a safe way of storing the files (Don't like the idea of only having them on cassette as they are not reliable in my opinion). thanks again to all who helped. regards Pete (invadar)

Odd that you should ask, I have a working 1722 sitting next to me. I bought two of these and so far all I have done with it is play the Star Trek game that's on the disk. If you still need the disk let me know and I can attempt to copy it. Just a standard 5 1/4" disk as far as I can tell. Joe wrote:

This list needs some more traffic :> What test equipment does everybody have? This would be a good thread.. Im interested to hear what people have, be it game test fixtures (video & pinball), fluke troubleshooters & pods, scopes, logic analyzers., etc. Add in if you would be interested in trading cables/test cards for systems like the Kurz-Kasch TF-650, PAT9000, Midway universal, etc. maybe even add in what you have for sale/trade, or what you plan to get or what you would like to get.. so we all know incase we find one available now or in the future.. Im sure theres more than a few of us in here who are test equipment junkies. If this gets any response I'll list what I have.. I just bought a Microchip PICStart Plus programmer and software. It it pretty nice. Microchip supplys (you can also just download it for free) a Assembly programming environment and a C environment as well. Plus, there is a simulator and a integrated debugger. If anyone on this list really wants to start getting involved with PIC projects, download the software etc, and check it out. I have been very impressed. www.microchip.com Also, there are companies that have shareware C++ compilers for it as well. Jeff Anderson wrote:

If anyone is interested in working on this project please drop me a e-mail. I'm looking to use a 16F84 or 16F877 pic & minimal hardware to build a bare bones translator that can be a Do It Yourself type project and then maybe expaneded to include other platforms & players. It will also be a good opportunity to learn PIC programing. I'm sure the reason for the Sony's is the availability in the coin op world thanks to American Laser Games. I would be willing to loan out the actual parallel port programming device to people that need to program PIC's or maybe tradeout for free samples of the end result!! ;-) Like I said the software is all free and downloadable. I had to bite the bullet and buy the little ZIF programmer for $200. Kev wrote:

Hi jeff, I have a bunch of logic analyzers. two Sony/Tektronix 338, three HPs (1601, 1615 and 1630), four Tektronix DAS 9100s, a Gould K-450 and a Dolch Colt 300. The Dolch and DAS 9100s also have plug ins for pattern generators and other stuff. I have about six different o'scopes and pile of meters of all descriptions including freq meters. capacitance and inductance meters. One HP Signature Analyzer. Bunches of logic probes, logic pulsers, current probes and logic comparators. I just got a Fluke 9010 MicroSystem Troubleshooter. It looks pretty good but I have used it much yet. Lets see; 6809 pod, 8085 pod, z-80 and z-80A pods, 8051 pod and 8048 pod. (Yes, I got lucky!) I have a HP MicroProcessor Exerciser (HP 5001, I think) for the 8085. It's similar to a Fluke 90. But I need a manual for it. Does anyone have one? Even for a different CPU? A bunch of bench top power supplies. Mostly HPs. A CST Service Pro 1000 DRAM/SIMM/SIPP tester. I also need a manual for this. Does anyone have one? I also have a Quantum Data Color Character Generator. It's great. It will drive any monitor ever made IF you can get the detailed specs for the monitor. I have a bunch of HP-IB controller's like the HP 85s, HP 9825s, 9826s etc. A couple of Eprom burners connected to PCs and a DATA I/O 29B with a Unipak. I also have a Logic Pak and the PALASM plug in and 303-011A PAL programmer. And a few PACE solder stations that I never use. I can work faster and better with a hand solder sucker and a good temperature controlled Weller iron. I do have one of TINY Weller temp controlled irons. You can't beat it for working on small stuff. I've got: The fluke 9010a w/ RS232 interface and 6809/E, Z80, 6800, 8085, 8080, 6502 pods and the probe The Fluke 90 - Z80 board tester. Kurz kasch TF-650 with various cards including the 309AC. I'm sure this can easily be duplicated if anyone wants me to scan in a picture. It actually works too. I also have the 1000a/b card which allows me to test the TF-650 itself. It's come in handy several times. (I'm still looking for that 247A John R. - I just got to find where I put that box of cards). I inherited 1000's of TTL chips from my ex-roomate. Nothing like having every 7400 series chip you could ever need. HP logic comparator HAKKO Soldering Station Tektronix 465M 100Mhz Oscilloscope HP 5004A Signature Analyzer Data I/O 29B Eprom Programmer with Unipak 2B B&K Picture Tube rejuvenator with universal adapter Various tools - westek logic probe, High Voltage probe, ESR Meter, Flyback tester, etc. A couple pattern generators. + some homemade test fixtures. Well I've got a Fluke 90 (Z80) unit and started testing it out. It claims to have "cycle stealing" abilities to test while the test board is running. I am working with Pac-Man boards right now. I can do ROM checksums in circuit as the game runs. How do I do RAM test of the 2114s at $4000-$47FF & $4C00-$4FFF? These are behind address buffers and the Sync Buss Controller. It appears that the RAM is only available on 2H cycles from the clock. Is there any way to test the RAM in circuit, using the Fluke90. I think I could build a jumper plug for the Sync Buss Controller & enable the Data buffer & address buffers manually but then I'm starting to defeat the purpose of in circuit testers. A little late in responding here, but I finally got the Fluke and the Data i/o running off the same serial port (with one of those switch boxes) and have the two programs that seem to work with a Pentium running under Win95. I am able to compile the scripts for the 9010, save them, edit, and up/download to the 9010. I am not sure where I found these files, but I will send copies to all who would like. I really should set up a section on my site for this stuff...but no extra time these days...the program for the Fluke is "rksic.exe" and for the i/o is promlink 3.1 Has anyone gotten any further with the asteroids script?
