Re: [Techtoolslist] Fluke 9100A - Cannot boot from system disks
Hi Chris, I am using the Sony type. Do you remember what your HxC setup is using ? It’s been a while since I did the HxC floppy conversion on mine but I seem to recall getting strange errors if the wrong floppy model was selected. I still get an error on system disk 2. It's a different error this time. I tried both 6.1 and 6.0 images. Error 205: /dd/rom/level1 Looking at the OS-9 doc, here is what it means 205: ILLEGAL MODULE HEADER - The specified module cannot be loaded because its module sync code is incorrect. I was able to skip it and this time I was able to boot the system from the disk. Could it be the floppy controller logic that is problematic ? If I were you (since you have the temporary workaround of using the ftp HDD image) I'd just install a Gotek and be done with floppies.
I should add, that if you go this route you'll need to convert the git repo to a format suitable for the Gotek. I batch converted the entire repo to HFE a while ago, if anyone wants this, drop me a line. _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/ _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/ _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/ _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/
Marc, I just found some of my notes on the floppy replacement. I think I ended up using the Canon HD option but I made some note about the TEAC FD235 so I'm not 100% sure. The replacement drive I used was the actual HxC floppy emulator from lotharek.pl. Since you can run the HxC firmware on the GoTek though I would think it should work the same way. I have my bench apart at the moment but if needed I can setup the 9100 and boot it with the service disk this weekend and take a look. Thanks,-Chris
