I don't think you can put the -003 option into the 9020A -----Original Message----- From: Techtoolslist [mailto:techtoolslist-bounces@flippers.com] On Behalf Of andysmout@bigpond.com Sent: Monday, March 16, 2015 9:53 PM To: techtoolslist@flippers.com Subject: [Techtoolslist] Fluke 9020A troubleshooter - swapping ieee488 i/f for rs232 i/f hello all! i just acquired a Fluke 9020A troubleshooter with option 002 ieee488 interface at a good price, and i have an operators manual and service manual on the way. does anyone know if i need to change roms if i swap the gpib interface for an rs232 interface ? william, apparently a -001 option, not a -003 option. but please be gentle with me i am just starting out with fluke 9000's! when i get the service and user manuals i'll have better info to work from. interestingly, the 9010a service manual (after page 6-2 of the 9010a service manual) states on page 001-1 in the theory of operation that the rs232 card is auto detected. i guess i am hoping that the 9020a will auto detect this card! for completeness sake, the following labels are attached: - 9020A-002/AB (sticker on bronze bracket over piggy-back assy) - piggyback assy 649459, 9000a-3004 rev b - piggyback assy U1 1.0 649491 - piggyback assy U2 1.0 651463 - u18 1.0 649509 - u19 1.0 649517 - u20 1.0 651448 - u21 1.0 651455 - iee488 rom u2 1.0 649483 _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/
Look at your keyboard on the Fluke 9020A. Do you have the AUX I/F, Program and Execute Buttons? If you want an RS232 Board, I will be happy to sell you an original for $150 - however, I don't think it will do you any good in the 9020A ... -----Original Message----- From: Techtoolslist [mailto:techtoolslist-bounces@flippers.com] On Behalf Of Andy Smout Sent: Tuesday, March 17, 2015 6:50 AM To: techtoolslist@flippers.com Subject: Re: [Techtoolslist] Fluke 9020A troubleshooter - swapping ieee488 i/f for rs232 i/f william, apparently a -001 option, not a -003 option. but please be gentle with me i am just starting out with fluke 9000's! when i get the service and user manuals i'll have better info to work from. interestingly, the 9010a service manual (after page 6-2 of the 9010a service manual) states on page 001-1 in the theory of operation that the rs232 card is auto detected. i guess i am hoping that the 9020a will auto detect this card! for completeness sake, the following labels are attached: - 9020A-002/AB (sticker on bronze bracket over piggy-back assy) - piggyback assy 649459, 9000a-3004 rev b - piggyback assy U1 1.0 649491 - piggyback assy U2 1.0 651463 - u18 1.0 649509 - u19 1.0 649517 - u20 1.0 651448 - u21 1.0 651455 - iee488 rom u2 1.0 649483 _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/ _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/
No AUX I/F, Program or Execute Buttons on this one. and thanks for the offer of the rs232 card! i'll followup later on that. _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/
No problem, I did a large run of the piero's usb boards for people, I don't think he has any of the pcb(s) left, if he is interested in releasing the board layout files I can always order some from a US distributor and make some more. As for control software other than FIDE I do not know, I know I have seen the 9020A with the RS232 card but no idea how it can be used without the Aux I/F, Prog and Exec Buttons -----Original Message----- From: Techtoolslist [mailto:techtoolslist-bounces@flippers.com] On Behalf Of Andy Smout Sent: Tuesday, March 17, 2015 4:37 PM To: techtoolslist@flippers.com Subject: Re: [Techtoolslist] Fluke 9020A troubleshooter - swapping ieee488 i/f for rs232 i/f No AUX I/F, Program or Execute Buttons on this one. and thanks for the offer of the rs232 card! i'll followup later on that. _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/ _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/
does anyone have this document or know where to find one ? i am hoping this doc will provide further illumination on the subject of ieee-488 remote operation of the 9020A. I am sure i saw it recently but i cant recall where i might have seen it - i have been hunting through every archive i can find or have recently searched, but not having much luck! _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/

Andy, my 9110FT has an IE488 Port, it may mimic the same commands as the 9020A http://arcarc.xmission.com/Test%20Equipment/Fluke/PDFs/9100_Fixture/9100_IEE E488QR.pdf William Stillwell Hamster / KI4SWY Stillwell Software Solutions. good thinking william! that gives me a starting point to read up on some commands. at least the standard 488 commands are there on the 9110ft. i'll dig a little deeper :) _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/
