So I recently got ahold of a 9105A, I see all the talk about the 9100, can anyone tell me the differences between the two? It comes with what appears to be a green screen monitor, initial power up shows that the RTC is dead, and it's looking for a Boot disk in Drive A: Haven't gone into more detail on it yet. I have a 9010, with pods, and I'm hoping this unit will do more for me. 9105 has two disk drives and no hard drive. Since it is a 9105A, not a 9105FT I suspect you lack the HDD controller. There are two versions of the HDD controller, The later/second version also provides HPIB/IEEE. This version is standard on the 68030 based 9100FT/9105FT and on the 9100A (68000 based) if it has the HPIB option. The intent was you would have a 9100 (with HDD) which you would develop scripts on, and then you would run these scripts on the 9105 (which lacked the HDD). If you can find an HDD controller, you can add a SCSI2SD ( http://www.codesrc.com/mediawiki/index.php/SCSI2SD) On Mon, Mar 1, 2021 at 4:50 PM Kevin Moore <talon.k@gmail.com> wrote:

Keven, also, Re: "I have a 9010, with pods, and I'm hoping this unit will do more for me." Sadly, Unless you want to start learning how to program TL/1 , it will actually do Less.. as nobody has reverse engineered the Fluke Signature routines on the 91XX series yet, so the only way to get signatures is from good working test hardware that you then can compare against other gear. There is a CRC32 TL Script, but you will need a Monitor and Video Card? (maybe, i am not sure if you can run the CRC script from Floppy ) Tony, what about the 9110FT ? My understanding was that the 9110FT was intended to be controlled by a PC running Spectrum TX, much like the 9020 was designed to be controlled by PC over GPIB. Its not clear to me if the 9110FT ever came with the video card, I assumed it didn't (due to the PC GFI control). Kevin did mention his 9105A came with a monitor. Normally the 9105 had no video card so I'm not sure. Kevin, please post a pic on what is installed in the card slots and drive bays.

Search the archives. Someone found the software a couple years ago and uploaded it. I can't recall if a 9100FT would pass muster with the software. I think someone tried. I have the Spectrum TX manuals (both quite large). I don't believe they've been scanned in. I've never seen a 9110FT and I don't understand the hardware distinctions between it and the 9100FT (if any).. I uploaded the 9110FT flyer a while ago, you can find it here: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment/Fluke/9100%20Series/9100_Fixture_PDFs/Technical%20Data%20Sheets/9110FT%20Digital%20Troubleshooter.pdf Maybe I've missed something but after reading it but it's not clear to me why you'd need/want the video card. Tony, I just so happen to have a National Instruments Card.. from the flyer, this maybe a good solution to get over the very dim LCD i have on my Second 9100FT ( which also has a IE488 port ) I will have to see if i can find another copy of the manuals, i will have to try to scan them. You did well here. Since it has the GPIB option, you have the 877808 scsi card (as that is what provides GPIB). This is the card that the timekeeper ram is on. There doesn't look to be a SCSI cable attached but you can hook up a drive, I'd recommend a SCSI2SD but you can use an old spinning disk if you want but there are issues with drives that are too large (I forget the limit, SCSI2SD firmware can limit the size of the disk presented to the firmware). You also, very oddly, have the video card. Yes, the monitor appears to be the correct unit. Did it come with a keyboard? You also have a probe, some io modules and a 9132A (which is the 32bit pod. I was the one who uploaded the Spectrum TX images a few years back when I bought my first 9110FT unit. I know that Ian Eure tested the software after that but I'm not sure if he managed to get it working all the way? I also bought a GPIB card at the time and this is something that would be interesting to test out properly. Like Tony said, if you need the manual I think I have them as well.

the 9100 I use has a badly failing display which is very hard to read.. I actually have a large collection of Retro "old" computers , as I set up retro computer museums at local maker faires and arcade shows. ( 20+ computer systems )
When i saw it need windows 3.1 and a 386.. i was like " i have one of those just sitting on the shelf " , i may try a 486 SX machine first.

I think you'll find the software requires a very old pc to run on, ieee card timing iirc.
If there was demand I'd scan my manual in but I don't think it's useful enough to warrant the effort.
I think your better off using a 9110 as a 9100.

Nope. It's non standard. You'll need to search the archives and use one of the various converters that allow a "modern" PC keyboard to be used. Of course you'll need to understand how the custom keys are mapped. Lots of tips in the archives on all the stuff you have. Most of the manuals have been scanned in. Lots of threads on using a Gotek and SCSI2SD. Good luck. _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/
Also, that 80286 personality module installed into the 9132A is not common. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qhfnryymzTaXMeYMa2ntUh_vTT5G5nOS/view?usp=s... Can you pop open the rear of the 9132 (undo two thumb screws and pull back the drawer) and take a picture of the label on the module? Each 9132 cpu setup consisted of: - a personality module (that gets installed into the 9132), - a floppy disk (containing drivers that gets loaded onto the 9100). - a cpu adapter (that connects to the UUT cpu and plugs into the 9132A sync module) - a manual I'm not sure what parts you got. Yep, that's why i don't have the 286 Module :D its not common. Looks like he has a custom ISA Card interface for it. Here is the link to my Adapter i made: https://github.com/ki4swy/FlukeUSBAdapter It maps all the custom keys to ALT+Fn Key , it mimics an original keyboard 100% including all the undocument scan codes. ( ie ALT+Key, SHIT+ALT+Key, CTRL+Key, , SHIFT+CTRL+Key, etc ) .. they were not listed in the technical documents. Someone loaned me a keyboard and I did a full dump of all the keyboard commands. I'd missed that due to the glare. "PC/AT motherboard to Fluke 9100 interface card". Yes, I suspect that connects to the sync module. Kevin, I'd be curious to see a better picture of that too. There are lots of weird and wonderful accessories for the 9132 but the only ones that are common are those that came with the AF kit (80386, 68020, 68030). Fluke released some grabber options for the 9132 that would clamp onto all 4-sides of a cpu but it was a bit like the 90, you could get a poor quality connection. _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/
Kevin, There is a defective 9100A unit on ebay with a SCSI card in it. That would be a way to get one. You could maybe sell some other parts like the display to people on this list. I think a few people were looking for one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fluke-9100A-Board-Tester-With-Solid-State-Hard-Driv... Yep, that’s me. I’m open to reasonable offers for the unit as described in the ad :D. Just keep in mind actual shipping is speedy on this to package it correct and ship cross country. I’m in Washington State, so it might be a little better for someone on the west coast. I may also consider parting it out if I can get the bulk of the individual components presold. In that case, it would be a MMAO plus actual shipping scenario. Justin Rudebaugh Sent from my mobile
