Not sure if it is worth it, although my 9100FT does boot up much faster than my 9100s.
I don’t have the manuals in front of me, but if I recall, the 9100FT is clocked at 25mhz and the 9100A is something like 10mhz. I don’t think swapping in an '030 would make any difference in relative speed.

The upgrades (AIR) usually had the CPU and scratch pad RAM running at the faster speed, then it interfaced to the regular bus. I haven't looked into this seriously for the 9100, just thought it would be a 'fun' project!
