Unless you need the physical backplane, I have been using DOSBOX for quite some time and was able to shed all but one of my XP machines and it's just on the shelf "in case". The computers I'm running in my lab are WIN7 and have a serial port. I've run DOSBOX with PROMlink for my Data I/O 29B over serial with no issues for a few years now.
