I have the datasheets for the GB and GC versions. I talked to the guy in the Noritake California office. He'd worked there for 20 years and was familiar with the part# and that they were used by a test equipment manufacturer in Washington State. I thought this was an amazing feat of memory at first but later I got the sense I was not the first Fluke owner to bug him about replacements. He initially claimed they were Fluke custom but after checking said they were standard items which is why he could release the data sheets. He did say that he believed Fluke was the sole US user of the part. I'm not sure how useful the data sheets are other than to determine if the GB will work in a board fitted with the GC (like my FT). A better option seems to be to decode the serial protocol and if successful, work on a replacement design using an LCD. He wouldn't give me the data sheets for the E, G, H and J versions so I have no idea if they would work as replacements. He did say that the information that MN256X32FB is a valid replacement is incorrect. I notice "Tony htbs" has posted twice with this part# so I'm curious if he has actually got it to work. Noritake rep said you would have to rework the hardware driver and software to make use of it, even if you could physically mount the larger height device. A few years ago, I was in contact with Noritake about getting the specs for an obsoleted (custom) display used in a scale head to look at the feasibility of designing a retrofit for it. Ultimately, the customer chose not pursue it (and spend a couple hundred thousand to outright replace what was otherwise a perfectly usable scale, but that's another story).
To the point, after explaining the situation, the gentleman below was very helpful in getting me the spec sheet for that custom display. Someone may want to try and reach him to ask about this display as well to see if anything can be done in terms of retrofit.

See if you can find "Noritake Itron DM256X26GB (21B) " that was the make and model of the tube. I pulled mine off the board. It's DM256X26GC (2FB)
http://www.noritake-itron.com/pages/Partsearchfull.htm lists both GB and GC. Both discontinued of course. No clue what the difference between the two is, if any.
The 9100FT works (or will soon) so I think I'll just keep my eyes peeled on eBay etc for a replacement for the 9105.
Noritake still makes a variety of display tubes - including the 256 X 24 or 256 X 32 style. Perhaps something here can be kludged into place?
