It isn't all Al's work. It was a collaboration. If I can dig up the stuff I contributed I'll be happy to send it out to whomever. The whole reason I donated it to spies was to participate & share in making this information freely available. (and I only have a meager 1 MB of space which I use for my webpage). I only donated a very few pinouts & a couple of manuals. Al forwarded the flyer scans elsewhere. I did donate the Bugtrap (Logic comparator) PDFs for the TTL & CMOS versions if anyone want to host those. Thanks, Kev mowerman@erols.com
Seems to me that if one person was to download the archive and then offer copies of the CD - at cost - (with Al's permission, after all they are HIS work) to collectors that might make it at least a resource that can be shared.
Sad though,

Actually I'm sure many of us contributed (I sent in a number of items that Al scanned including the files on Signature analysis and a couple of other test equipment manuals) Still he organized and maintained it. This, as far as I'm concerned, it would only be with his permission - as the editor if nothing else - that others offer his Spies (compiled/organized) site on CD. Obviously the individual files that were not scanned by Al can be hosted anywhere without anyone's permission but the copyright holder (or the scanner?). Well, reading all the complaints in the newsgroup, I see that there is definitely a problem here. Everyone that has spoken is basically right - if something is free, someone will find a way to exploit it. I don't blame Al for doing what he has done one bit. Bandwidth isn't cheap and why should he pay to be exploited. Anyway, even though someone else has offered to take over the information, I will also offer to take over part of the archival if for nothing else other than a backup source or mirror to the data. I would host the technical data, test equips, etc. that would be useful for the members of this list. I would not really have much interest in the game manuals. Most information is still on the mirror site and readily available - at least for now. Let me know if this would be a useful option and I will see about getting a separate server together this weekend. Any other options or requests, let me know. As a sidenote - does anyone have anything resembling a manual, pinout, etc. for a TEK 1230 logic analyzer? I am hoping I don't have a fancy coffee table here. Greg John Robertson wrote:
