Re: Williams CPU Troubleshooting Part 1 manual?
I have the full set of Video Recap manuals (at least I believe so). Does anyone have the video tapes that were supposed to go with them? I'll be more than happy to scan them for everyone once I get back from holiday... Never heard of this one... I have the part 1 and 2 of servicing the Defender game - covers both board sets. These are photocopies...
Not scanned in...yet...that I know of.

While scrounging through some operator's manuals I came across a Williams manual entitled "Video Recap CPU Board Part 2 CPU Oscilloscope Troubleshooting". The first paragaph says the manual is related to the CPU board for Defender. Does anyone have the Part 1 manual? This one is only about 10 pages. I don't have a scanner or anyplace to post it, but I probably could at least get it scanned and e-mailed to someone to post if anyone was interested. Maybe the same could be done for the part 1 manual? I'd be interested to see what it covers.
Hint to John Robertson: If you happen to have an extra Part 1 manual in your stock of manuals, I'd sure like to buy it!

Can anyone give me a quick synopsis on how to make MADSEL on Missile Command toggle? I think the 6502 line needs to be toggled & as I read it toggles during a fetch cycle. So I'm guessing that I cann't make this happen unless I have the 6502 running a program? Any insight appreciated, Kev
I put out a request for how to edit teledisk file & this is what I have so far.... I suppose you want to edit ASCII messages of some progams. You can do it directly by using some editor for binary files or use following procedure: 1. Use binex to translate OS-9 binary files into Motorola S format. 2. ... do editing... 3. Use exbin to do reverse translation. 4. No matter wheteher you used binary editor or binex/exbin use fixmod to fix module CRC. Here's what I found on BINEX so far... http://home.hetnet.nl/~newlife-software/Binex/binex.htm If anyone has time to fool with this & actually gets somewhere please let us know! I'm still fooling with Missile Command (you can toggle the Sync line via TOGGLECONTROL CTL command). Kev
Could someone send me a TELEDISK file copy of a Fluke 9100 disk. IT would be nice if the Fluke disc contained a few text files but at this point I'm not picky at all. I just need a sample to put in a fellows hand. (He's working on a set of OS-9 translation tools as we speak). If you could do this before 5 PM East Coast US time that would be great otherwise I'll go home & try to do it. Thanks, Kevin

I have the service disk at home, in Teledisk (just a disk image really) format. Note that one of the OS9 toolkits for Unix can already convert a disk image to a series of real files. I used it to pull out files from the System 1 and 2 disks for the serial number crack.
I sent Kev an archive copy of the system discs. Now the next hurdle, how to back up the hard drive! Where are the OS9 tools for UNIX? Will they work in Linux? Finally a reason to warm up my Lindows machine! John :-#)# At 11:59 AM 16/09/2002 -0400, Corey Stup wrote:

Sourceforge has a copy of os9 tools for Unix/Linux. However, all the file specific ones are really for OS9 level 2, written to facilitate the usage of CoCo3 stuff. Our 9100's use OS9/68000, level 2.2 (or 2.4, or maybe a hybrid) which most of the file tools won't understand the binary format of. The disk image tools will work (copy file, format image, etc), as the OS9 filesystem is the same for both versions.
One is on it's way to Kev... John :-#)# At 11:47 AM 16/09/2002 -0400, Kev wrote:
