I'll be sharing the disk image a bit later, but wanted to get the news out. The last thing I need for my 9100 setup is a keyboard or PS/2 adapter... anyone have one they'd let go?

I sent the disk image to John, hopefully it’ll be up on the FTP soon. My patch eliminates the serial number check entirely. It sounds like the disks were shipped in a clean state, then had some data written back onto them, but I’m not completely clear on that. If that’s the case, it should be harmless, since the check itself is what I changed, not the serial number.

I don't fancy re-inventing the wheel, but if you are really stuck i could sit and work out a keyboard translator adapter with a PIC. I have a proper keyboard so i'm not in need for one myself, but i do appreciate the service disk creation (if it works! hehe) and would like to help you in return. I know there's at least one keyboard adapter out there (possibly 2?) but i'm not sure on the availability of source code or other hookup information right now? From martins schematic the wiring looks incorrect (pin numbers don't seem to match up, but that could just be me!) I also used some code on the net to do some pic code that should implement a PC keyboard, using the LEDs on the keyboard instead of adding extra ones. just never got around to wiring it up and testing it! if I find it I can post it to anyone who is interested, or maybe find enough time to wire it up and test it!! I believe two pins are transposed on the schematic. The code in question was based on the following: http://www.electronic-engineering.ch/microchip/projects/keyboard/v1xx/keyboa... This above code is freely distributable (non commercial) but the author of the Fluke changes stated he was revoking the license to distribute his code changes. Andrew Finn reimplemented using the much smaller 12f675 pic for his ABI 4000 keyboard adapter which doesn't require an external oscillator and so fits inside a 5 pin din connector housing. Unfortunately he based his code on the above Fluke code rather than the original Swiss code so he will not release his code either. Unfortunate situation. I was planning on reimplementing for both 9100 and 4000 but have not yet found the freetime. It would be nice to have something that is under the GPL but reimplementing the whole codebase rather than just the Fluke/ABI changes is a lot more work. As Bill said, the binary (hex) and schematic are still available on Martin White (Guddler)'s website. It's not a complex circuit to build though obviously more so than Andrew Finn's single chip solution. _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/
OK, found my version it was based on the V2 code at http://www.electronic-engineering.ch (Martins looks to have been based on V1) I changed the serial speed to 1200 baud, removed the calls for the LCD display stuff and put the extra bit in to put the fluke into edit mode. I don't have a video card so never actually tested it (or finished building the interface due to the wiring oddity) - should it do anything without the video card? - if so I could complete the build and do some testing so, if anyone wants to try and progress it, this is the code I had so far Macro _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/

I cracked the protection on the v6 service disk. Took a few hours of digging this afternoon. It booted right up on the first attempt.
