Replacing a Fluke 9100a disk drive
I finally need to replace the faulty disk drive in my 9100a as I need to install the newer software. The drive thats currently in there is a double density Cannon MD350. The service manual has the jumper settings for drive 0 and drive 1, and strangely you have change two jumpers instead of just the ID. (but there is no documentation of what these actual jumpers are for, either on the net or in the manual) I've tried using a std pc 1.44meg floppy drive, changing the drive ID to be ID0 like the original drive, and also tried 2 std amiga double density drives but neither want to work. The original drive is definately faulty as the fluke can't format a disk, and won't read the original software regardless of if it's a high or double density disk. I suspect I need to change some of the jumpers on a std drive to handle the different drive selects and the way the motors are enabled but have failed to find any info on the net about this. Any help would be appreciated Chris _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com http://seven.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist
Assuming your problem IS the drive and not the controller, what PC drive make/model are you trying to use? Chris Hardy wrote:

I've got a few drives here.. The main problem I'm having with the pc drives is that most manufacturers are removing the switches or even the ability to change the DS0/DS1 settings. The drives I have are.. 720k Mitsumi D357T2 (amiga) 720k Chinon fb-354 (amiga) PC 1.44m Panasonic JU-257A606pc (loads of unpopulated switches) TEAC FD-235HF-7291 (uses 0 ohm smt resistors as jumpers..) TEAC FD-235HF-7291 (slightly different model with different jumper positions smt again) and the drive I tested it with as it had a DS0/DS1 jumper which is a Sony MPF920-F Chris ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rodger Boots" <rlboots@cedar-rapids.net> To: "Technical Tools Mail List" <techtoolslist@flippers.com> Sent: Monday, May 02, 2005 11:17 AM Subject: Re: [Techtoolslist] Replacing a Fluke 9100a disk drive

It is very difficult to find a drive that will work with the 9100's. I got a couple from Shy @ Navatek and might recommend you ask him. I tried about ten different ones before giving up and buying one from him... A floppy emulator interface anyone? John :-#)# At 5:26 PM +0100 5/2/05, Chris Hardy wrote:

One jumper is probably the address (drive 0 or 1), the other probably enables termination (last drive on the cable is terminated, others aren't).
