The PSU supplies a reset pulse to the game board and the cheap squeak music board.
You can get around this by manually connecting the reset pin on the cheap squeak to +5v ( or was it ground, I don't recall)
Either way, you cant just get away with tying the line to +5v (or ground), it has to be a pulse
