Mmmm, perhaps a bit more complex than I recall. Here's a picture I just found: http://www.moosenet.demon.co.uk/temp/apple2/IC_tester.jpg Wonder what's in the 'mystery' black box? tm John Robertson wrote:
Does anyone have this test device (Fairy IC tester) that could figure out the schematic? Or take some pictures of the interface board - perhaps it is simply buffers for the test socket.
Reading through the disk (Fairy... on TTL FTP) it looks like it tests TTL 54/74, CMOS 40/45, and HCMOS 74HC series - appears to be written in BASIC(? - been years since I last looked at APPLE II stuff) (RUN HELLO2, BRUN HMOS & this and that)...I can't find anything to do with RAM tests unfortunately...
I wonder how many of us have Apple II's sitting on a shelf? I have three that still work...but this program might not be worth it - if someone else would like to look and confirm/deny my results just to be sure though that might be useful.

So, how hard would it be to build an adapter using a ZIF socket which could plug into your computer and test IC's. Would the software need to be modified?

Dunno if TELEDISK was used on the original floppy. The disk image will read just fine in any Apple ][ emulator though. I hope it can be of some use.

These files are now on TTL (FTP)- perhaps Tom could tell us if they are stored with TELEDISK?
Thanks Tom!

On a similar note to the Ming IC tester, I have some software for the Fairy IC tester. The 'Fairy' was an add-on board for the Apple II which had a ZIF socket on it and could presumably test all sorts of early 80's TTL and RAM?
Since the files are 6502-based, perhaps someone can extract the appropriate data? Dunno. I'll upload them to John's ftp site.
