Found a great resource for problems with various Compact Flash cards that needs sharing: http://www.cdadapter.com/faq.htm (look for the "CompactFlash Cards" section). Good reading if you are looking at using CF cards in your equipment! John :-#)# techtools-steve wrote:
I would be willing to bet they installed the wrong flash. I recall mine had the SST39SF10A and yours shipped with the W29EE512. Functionally they should have been the same if the upper address lines were grounded. I am very curios to see if your replacement works.

Further on this issue, I contacted Manabu again with more explanations of how I tested it and he said to send the card back for a checkup - here is a note from him this morning (he is sending it back Priority Mail too!) :
Dear Sir
I tested your returned CF AztecMonster. It seems that EEPROM error is occurred. I replaced the ROM. Please try it again.
So, it seems that the card EEPROM was defective, once it arrives I'll test it again with various CFs that I have accumulated and let you folks know the results.
