I was figuring with the speed of static RAM these days that my generic Z80 RAM/ROM board will do the job. I'll let you guys know in the next few days the results. It works just fine replacing the RAM/ROM on a Game Plan MPU, cuts my service time way down on the corroded boards. John :-#)# At 01:50 PM 12/07/2002 -0700, Paul Swan wrote:
Hi John,
Re: Replacement of Midway 8080 PCB DRAM
Dave Langley in the UK was looking at that at one point. The place to start might be the Nichibutsu Moon Base manual because it they already have a schematic for an alternative Moon Base PCB that uses 2114 instead of the DRAM. Never seen this PCB in the flesh.
Taito also did a revised 2-set Space Invaders (that replaced CPU and ROM of the original 3-set with a single PCB and kept the same sound PCB as the original 3-set) that used 4116 DRAM. Seen the PCB, not seen the schematics. Dave L. might have these.

Paul.

also considering the 8080 (wouldn't it be nice to get rid of the RAM issues there on the old Midway boards!!!). I am going to test an Omega Race very very soon...I have a nice cabinet with a RAM rotted board here...
