Yeah once the emulator's done I should be able to documment all commands types that the 9010A sends to the pods.. then with the USB adapter you could make any software you want to talk to the pods and go hogwild with features. One such app I had envisioned was one that would alow you to run custom code on a given system. Say you wanted to create your own multipac for example.. you could write it in Z80 ASM or even C for that matter, and this app would point to 3rd party compilers and assemblers specific to a given CPU and store the resulting machine code in memory. Then, instead of running the machine code from on-board ROM, it would run yours but it would execute it on the board itself. An ICE (In circuit Emulator) of sorts, which would allow you to perform on-the fly real-time firmware development. -Adam On Apr 7, 2005 7:26 AM, James Bright <james@quarterarcade.com> wrote:
When you get to that point, let me know. I do have an extra (Definitely an extra video card. I have a few base units, but I think they all need work.)
My *only* complaint on the 9100A is that mine is so damn slow... mostly because of the disk access. I'm a touch typist so I can write test code, navigate around the menu system, etc., faster than my 9100A can keep up. I have to think that an emulated version would much much faster. Not to mention that we could decide to just use the hardware components and build our own software. I don't think that would be all that bad. Well, I say that now. There are definitely some really sophosticated features of the 9100 that I don't understand....

I had thought about that too since graphics cards for 9100's seem to be scarse. Once this one is done I'll probably move onto the 9100... If someone is kind enough to lend me one for test. :-)

Get that figured out and the 9100A I/O module figured out, and we can just write the software ourselves... I'd volunteer if the hardware interface is worked out.

neat - get that sorted and we can knock up a new front end with lots of new features.
I keep meaning to look into it, and I have now got the dlp-usb245m module that I may use - very handly little gadget, already hooked it to an arcade PCB to allow me to dump the encryption table.

I'm taking a graduate course in Real Time Embedded systems and for my final project, am developing a USB to Fluke POD adapter for use with my Fluke 9010A emulator.
So not only do I get to tinker with what interests me but I end up getting credit for it. :-) -Adam _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com
