68000 Fluke Pod with Atari 68010 Games ?
Here is one for you guys to ponder over..... Can you use a Fluke Pod with 68000 CPU, to check out Atari System 1's , Gauntlet etc that use a 68010 CPU ? Can you use the 68000 CPU in the pod , or do you have to fit a 68010 ? - or is it just not doable at all ? I'm not looking to do UUT's , but more just ram / rom testing , general prodding about etc..... Supposed to be Pin Compatable. Not a definitive answer as I'm not 100% sure I've tried it, but as you say the 010 is pin compatible and slightly faster in some instructions and was a semi-popular (but pointless) DIY upgrade for the Amiga. I'd give it a go as I suspect it'll work. I certainly can't see it doing harm. Not checked the clk offerings for the 010s though so if things get warm... ;) tim Sent from my iPad On 21 Dec 2011, at 18:51, "Colin Davies" <colin.w.davies@btopenworld.com> wrote:

I have a couple of 68008 Emulator PCBs for the 68000 pod, don't know if anything like that was needed for the 680010 though. (Just putting that info out there) John :-#)# _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com http://seven.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ftp.flippers.com/TTL/TestEquipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/
I'm fairly sure that my system 1 motherboard has a normal 68000 in it. afaik escape from the planet of robot monsters is the only atari game that NEEDS a 68010. (well, 2 of them in fact) When I first wrote the 68000 core for mame, it was the only atari game that did not work!
