I'm sick of doing the Molex two-step, and am in dire need of a new terminal crimper. Is the Platinum 16801C still the general consensus of being the best "budget" crimper for Trifurcon/Molex terminals? I'm not opposed to spending a bit more (up to the $60-75 range, maybe $100 if it's *really* worth it) on a different crimper if there is a good reason to go that route. But, I also don't want to buy five different crimpers to find a "good" one if I can avoid it. Thanks for any input and guidance in advance! --Brad _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/
I really like the Sargent crimper - you can get it from Great Plains Electronics. Yes, it si a two step, but it is fast and easy to use. If you are doing production, then an automatic crimper is best, but for periodic, it can't be beat! https://www.greatplainselectronics.com Search for 'crimper'. We use the 2026-CT a lot in our shop. The ultralight aircraft crowd also like that tool - which was where I first found it. John :-#)# PS, say "Hi!" to Ed for me if you like. On 07/06/2016 2:45 PM, Brad Gass wrote:

For Molex .156" terminals, go to Great Plains Electronics: https://www.greatplainselectronics.com/products.asp?cat=138 and order Part Number: 3136-CT. It's a one-step crimper, with a holder for the contact. It's worth every dollar of the $105 Ed is asking for them, and you'd pay more elsewhere for the same tool. Or, surf eBay for a year or so and get one cheaper there if you're lucky, all the while hating whatever crimper you're using now. You'll get it, make one crimp, and wish you'd spent the $105 earlier. This is not an advertisement, paid or unpaid. I have this one, and the .100 and the similar Sargent crimper for Packard 56 terminals. They're worth it, and Ed's a great guy to do business with. _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/

Check with Ed. If they exist, he'll know about them. _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/
