ftp site is down...
Does anyone know Tim Matthews (in the UK) and can ask him if he is aware his web site arcadetech.org is down? He is hosting the TTL library (I have a complete archive of course) and I noticed it was down when I tried to upload some files yesterday. I sent him an email but did not hear back. The domain is listed as active until 2020 so it must be a server thing... Thanks! Looks like I haven't been paying attention to the ftp site and it is still down.... Anyone want to host that data? It is 9.49GB in size these days...I don't have a fixed IP or I'd have done it long ago, and flippers is at capacity and I don't want to pay for online storage if I can help it. Thanks! Perhaps it can be hosted via http. Access to the arcadetech archive was still via ftp:// and support for that protocol has been removed from most browsers. _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/

Web browsers were never the best way to use FTP anyway. I'd bet there are even more FTP clients that there are web browsers. That said, it's pretty trivial to have both an FTP server and a web server pointing to the same directory hierarchy, and there's little reason not to do both. -Dave -- Dave McGuire McGuire Scientific Services, LLC New Kensington, PA _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/

I know; I raised the issue with John previously asking if http could be enabled. I had no idea who actually ran the arcadetech server. _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/ _______________________________________________ Techtoolslist mailing list Techtoolslist@flippers.com https://pairlist7.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/techtoolslist FTP site is: ftp://ttl.arcadetech.org/TTL/Test_Equipment Archive site: http://seven.pairlist.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/

Hi all. I’m the dude that hosted ftp until recently. The data is still there: the domain name changed. I do need to switch off the server in the near future, but for the moment you can clone the site as much as you like, then grab any changes John has to bring your copy up to date. The ftp is still available at ftp://lois.kibble.cloud (usual anonymous login) As I mentioned before I’m happy to TX the arcadetech.org to anyone who wants to commit to the upkeep. The reason I have to quit this is the server is near EOL (the few 74series logic on it aren’t even thru-hole 😂) and it’s not making sense to keep some big iron in a colo any longer. I’ve not looked at the traffic stats in a while but it might be possible to host this on AWS S3 or Azure blob storage free-tier even, and I’d be happy to help with that.

Would $10USD per 16GB USB stick plus postage be OK with TTL folks? Postage to USA is roughly $15, so $25USD mailed in a padded envelope. I will set this stick up on Flippers so it can be automated (don't want to tie up my parts guy more than needed) if 3 or more people want them at that price.
