PS What are the subscription instructions for this list? Flog me now, for I never end up saving them. Sorry! I couldn't find them on the flippers.com web site.

Subject: Re: ESR meter construction question
Have you tried using a jumper wire to short out the input jacks? I find the quality of probes varies greatly...
Do you get the correct resistance values with the two test resistors? 86R and some other resistor...

I finally built my ESR meter kit from John and it "works" (it powers up, displays "EA" and then "- ") but when the measurement leads are tied together in order to zero them out the value just keeps fluctuating wildly. The fluctuation is large and happens a few times a second. If I press the button to zero them out it turns the meter off. I'm doing this with the ends of the wires off the PCB (the PCB has not been installed in the case yet) clamped together. Any ideas?

Open the box, very excitedly read the manual. Couldn't figure out why the guy was not sure of the processor supported, well apparently there are several Fluke 90's, Z80, 8085, 6809 etc.... I got a 8085, useless. I'm sending off an e-mail now (now that I know how to id the unit without opening the box) Kev
Unbeleivable! He told me all he had were Z80s, why don't you ask him if he has any 6502s, 6809s or 8080s.... We could all use those.. James Kev wrote:

Hi Kev! Could you share the secret of id-ing the unit without opening the box? John :-#)# At 07:34 PM 1/21/2000 -0800, you wrote:

I have not heard back from Walter at this point. To ID the unit in original shipping box: On the side it has a black stick on label, from Fluke that has a checkbox for NTSC or PAL video tape. The top line of the label say Fluke 90 XXXX in somewhat thinner numbers, this is the processor type. The main manual does not reference processor type at all. There is an additional "getting started" manaul that references Z80, 8085 and 6809 and how to handle some of the pullup pulldown conditions. There is also a reference to the ROM inside the unit & it further states that the clip cannot be removed without opening the unit. At this point my question is can you simply swap ROMs & perhaps jumpers inside the unit to change type? Corey?? Kev
