Looking at the manual for the Z80QT pod and the schematic I think I am getting an expected result. I hooked up the pod and hit BUS to run the bus test. I immediately get back CTL ERR showing 00000010 this is the HALT line. Looking at the schematic it appears HALT and INT are both tied together and pulled high. So the fluke can't exercise that line. Any way to ignore that error and verify the rest of the bus test? Oh and according the manual maximum clock frequency is 8.0 mhz. Does that mean this pod support Z80A/B/C ? You can disable some lines by selecting 'setup', more, more, more, No basically, set trap active force lines to NO but that may not ignore control lines ...but should hopefully allow you to do reads / writes / ram tests etc. On 17/11/2011 07:29, David Shoemaker wrote:

Hi David, I too am having a problem with a Mario Bros game. Can read and write to the CMOS RAM (passes all RAM tests), but it won't save settings when turned off then back on. Self tests are also good. Annoying! Anyone else run into that? I'm thinking of ripping out the CMOS battery circuit and replacing with an NVRAM and direct connection to the /CS instead of the transistor & /Reset circuit that is there now. It still won't store the High Score or Free Play settings. It adjusts them on screen, but cycle the power and Free Play and/or High Scores go away. Was there a software version for Mario Bros which did not allow for battery backup memory? That is able all i can think of as the Fluke does a proper read/write to the memory location just fine (6800h to 6FFFh). Fortunately the customer doesn't care so I am not going to sink any more time into this problem - for now. However if someone has a bright idea I am more than willing to listen as it annoys me. It appears this is normal (not saving Free Play setting) - oddly enough. Some online searching shows up that others have run into the same thing, game won't keep Free Play setting when power is cycled. To be honest I haven't tested the High Scores if they reset or not as I am not a good enough player. That feature may actually work. Arcadeshop offers a kit for saving Free Play for Mario Bros.
