I've been tracking and bidding on some Data I/O 29B & Unipak 2B combos on E-bay but the ones that look promising (power-up and not missing the big programming socket on the 2B) are all going for above $100. Will a SYSTEM 19 or 29A & Unipak do? Would I notice the difference since 95% of my game boards are from the 80s? Do the Unipaks work on any base (without supporting the additional devices) or must they be paired correctly (29A & Unipak vs. 29B & Unipak 2B)? Any other programmers I should look out for that seem to be a consensus good choice? Thanks! PS I searched the vectorlist/tech tools archive and maybe I'm being overly influenced by the couple of messages that proclaim these items are plentiful and available for < $50 on E-bay! :-) -- Franklin Bowen (Franklin@Bowen.net) http://fmbbowen.com:39353 If you ever want to (un)subscribe yourself with TTL, you can send mail to: <Majordomo@flippers.com> with the following command in the body of your email message: (un)subscribe techtoolslist or from another email account, besides xxx@yyy.com: (un)subscribe techtoolslist xxx@yyy.com
Hi, they generally go for about $150. If you can get one for less, you're doing well. :) You just need to make up your mind that you want one, and that you're going to pay $150 or so for it. The 19 and 29A will not work properly with a PC and the UI version of promlink. The 29B and Unipak 2B is really the way to go, and are VERY much worth the $150 price. John might be able to better answer your question on mixing bases and Unipaks.
