Programmers keyboard configuration:
Use the serial port of a PC, INVERT the output (74LS04 works nicely),
7,O,1 (7 bits, Odd parity, 1 stop bit), when you press the EDIT key hold
down the space key to let the 9100 know the keyboard is present. Standard
Terminal program (QVT Term is the one I'm using, www.qpc.com)
Needs work, perhaps the keyboard needs to be remapped, but this works
fairly well. A number of things happen that don't make sense yet, but it
is closer....
I'm getting stuck in the "Messages Window" and can't get out. I
get most of the lower case characters, UPPER CASE do weird
things...Capital A pops me into the Messages Window for example. Need to
read the programmers manual I guess....

I didn't defeat the RESET code, all I did was plug the keyboard in just after pressing the EDIT key. Then the screen came up. It appears that the keyboard must send out a code to indicate it is RESET and the 9100 accepts this. The keyboard is sending out serial data, the question is, exactly WHAT serial code it sends. I am suspecting that it sends XT scan codes...

Look at the AT to ASCII keyboard adapter. If you had a blank 68HC705J1A
MCU, you could probably have it running in 2 hours.
(So I take you you defeated the Reset code?)
