Dave,

Schematics would be great! My email address is markhooks@earthlink.net.  I'm speculating my unit is very early production.  The serial number ends in 5003 (perhaps the third one built?).  I'm considering modifying mine to be consistent with the schematics.  It just doesn't seem to have the connections needed to support the 6809E processor.  The good news is that all the parts are there to make it work.  I just need to get out the spool of jumper wire and make it happen.

Mark,

My schematic shows s1-3 and s1-2 with one side of each connected together and to the input pin 4 of AND gate U16. The other side of S1-3 goes to the output side of the tri-state buffer U10 pin 8. The other pin of S1-2 goes to the input side of the same buffer U10 pin 9.

I'll bring the manual to work and scan the schematic sheets. I'll try to get them off to you tonight. What's your email address?

Upon further examination it appears that dip switches 2 and 3 (the ones that switch over from the 6809 versus the 6809E) are not connected to anything.  I wonder if there was a re-design of the pod during production?  My boards have a 1982 date on them, revision B-1.

I've made some progress on this problem.  I've manage to track down a bad diode at CR1.  I now get the input on EXTAL through U22 as it should.  I'm still getting the pod timeout -attempting reset error though. It seems I'm not getting the E clock signal at pin 34.

I've been comparing the schematics to my unit and they don't match. Is there more than one schematic available?  The one I have is the October 1982 version. I hate working blind without schematics.

I'm at an impasse trying to fix my broken 6809 pod. I've scoured the techtoolslist archive and have not found a solution. I'm getting the pod timeout -attempting reset error message when using a 6809E processor.  Here's what I know:  the pod works fine with a regular 6809, the dip switches are set right for the 6809E, the 6809E processor I'm using works fine in a working star wars board, the clock source at the input to U22 looks good on the scope, the U22 enable line is high, but the u22 output is stuck low. Therefore, there is no input on the processor EXTAL.

I think this is the problem.  Where do I go from here, replace U22?  Before I go hacking around on a rare pod, I want to make sure I'm on the right track.
