I've talked to Merit tech support before and they told me that the 8930 had some unique features, that sure enough, they took advantage of when they used this chip, so unfortunately other chips don't work.  They have a work around that uses another chip, but I need to change several other components on the board to accomodate it.  I was hoping to avoid that.

Incidentally, while I'm not a fan of bar top triva type games, I do have to give Merit tech support a two-handed thumbs up.  They sent me a copy of the manual for my machine for free.  Didn't even hassle or care that I wasn't a distributor or operator (and it was a 10 year old game that they don't officially support besides).  Wait time to get to the tech person rarely exceeded 1 minute, and they are very knowledgeable of their games.  They want you to be at the game ready to go, test, fix, etc.  They know what's happening, without mistake by the sounds over the phone, etc., etc.  Impressed me very much.

Okay, back to tech tool stuff... (unless someone else has an 8930).

I realize this isn't a buying and selling forum, but I've tried everywhere and can't find any.

Would anyone have 1 or 2 AY8930 chips available?  There were used on the old Merit (non-touch screen) bar top games.  They were the "next generation" AY-3-8910.  Obviously wasn't long lived.
